— Bonus photo - from the forest near Grewingk Lake. This shows the frosted trees and ground, lit by my headlamp. The conditions were ideal for forming such large frost - before this cold snap, there was very warm heavy rain, which provided plenty of water vapor floating around to add to the crystals. And the cold was also calm, with no wind to break them. The largest frost crystals we saw were about 3 inches across.
