Nunatak

This unnamed small icefield pours ice into glaciers on both the north and south side of the Kenai Peninsula.
— A nunatak is essentially an island in a glacier--a patch of land where all around is ice. Often they are carved into sharp spines like this. As the ice recedes, new islands appear, and old islands grow, exposing brand new land to the shoes of hikers and the hoofs of goats.
